I love my power cables:) I wish you can rent them to experiment with your system. My favorite power cable is my Pangea AC9SE. Mind blowing but very thick…like a water hose! I also love Audioquest.

I don't know much about cables, but i noticed a lot of these high end cables usually use some kind of basic stranded copper for the live and neutral connections, but some special wire for the ground. It just seems like more of the cost goes into the ground, but yet isn't most of our gear ungrounded? I dont recall any of my amps or preamps or dacs having a ground connection at the iec inlet. It's usually the power conditioners/isolation transformer/regenerator or distributor that is grounded so i sort of talked myself into only paying big money for the cable that goes from my isolation transformer to the wall and the rest are just litz type 2 prong cables plugging into the transformer. As i also understand it, shielded cables aren't really necessary outside of possible extra noise rejection on a digital source?

For a bit more you have the Unity Atom all in one. In my view just forget them all and save up to JR amps or the Sugden A21 or Galion ts a20 or SE Tube amps such as the NAT amps 🤔 As with the Ares dac better take a look at the Cyan 2 dac or FX Tube Glass dac 🤔

Sing that you posted this for years ago it's doubtful you'll respond but I'll ask anyway. I have just discovered this brand for myself and I'm Blown Away by its resolution. I'm going to start out with the scm7 model their entry level bookshelf but from my understanding, these are very thirsty power hungry speakers. In your opinion, do you think the Rega Elex R is enough to drive these with authority?

All you need is ATC active studio monitors and a good preamplifier. Save your money and stop looking for a unicorn! ATC is a Class AB tri-amp speaker that actually delivers.

Another reason single drivers work so well is that the absence of a crossover makes the speaker easier to drive for the amplifier. Drivers produce back EMF as well as Choke coils; capactitors, especially electrolitcs can a little of their own signature to the sound as well. Remove the cross over an the amplifier only has to deal with the back emf of the driver. It just a little bit of magic.

I recently got a Java HiFi Single Shot Integrated Amplifier. It's the most beautiful piece of gear I have ever had in my room. The sound quality is top notch and I have had the AGD Audions (V2) in my system run using a Benchmark LA4 preamplifier. This integrated rocks!! The phono section is incredible. The DAC leaves something more to be desired but no complaints. It's an amazing product and I believe the cost is justified....to each his own I guess! Thanks @Jayiyagi for the review.

They pair well with line Magnetic, I can say that with certainty.

Personally i don't like speakers that requires a sub to sound complete. I have a pair of Dynavoice Definition DF-6 powered by a Yamaha A-S1100 and when i want my apartment to start vibrating, i'll just play Massive Attack - Mezzanine album . It makes my kitchen table vibrate ... from 4x6" woofers. Yes it would give a more pronounced low end if i had 2 subs.. but i don't feel like i need it, also.. i have never played over 1 watt.. still loud as hell.

Thanks Jay. I have a separates rig too and this is my first integrated in 20 years. Been driving my Buchardt 400mk2z and KEFls50metas (w/sub) with the Billie2 + an Ares2 DAC. Using the additional gold tube option and have been really enjoying the synergy & performance.

In my opinion DACs and AMPs should be always as clean as possible. I don't like when my DAC or AMP adds flavor to my audio-chain. A headphone or speaker should sound like it was designed. When the audio your hear is not what you like than you have the wrong speaker or headphone.

Okay so this comment is coming in a few years after this video has been produced by this guy but I got to tell you I have the 14 model 3s and they are just absolutely phenomenal with stuff from Mike Oldfield what's The Moody blues or even something a little more exciting like deep purple.. I love them.. after I die and if I come back I want to come back as Klipsch forte speakers belonging and owned by someone who knows how to use them..

How does this compare to the Vincent SV-700 ?

How do you think this would mate with my modded Magnapan .7 speakers (with fuses removed)? I know you don't my room, etc., but in general broad strokes, does this provide enough 'ommph' to power the Maggies which need power and high current? Also, while I am still mainly a turntable guy, I do want an optimized DAC for this unit. What budget oriented DAC do you recommend?
